SUBMIT YOUR COMMUNITY COOKBOOK RECIPE

Hi everyone!

Our mission here at Finca Tres Robles is to unite people, place and food. As growers, our love of food is incomplete without people to share in this love with. What is a farm without its vibrant community to meaningfully engage with the food that it produces? And that is what makes Finca the space it is today–everyone coming through our gates with their own stories, their own experiences, traditions, likes and dislikes, all united by love of food.

At a time when it is hard to come together physically, we have been inspired by the long history of Community Cookbooks as creative tools for community collaboration and skill-sharing, which is why we will be creating our very own!

The Finca Tres Robles Community Cookbook will be a compilation of recipes submitted by you, our community members, as a way for us to come together safely, tasting each other’s favorite foods, connecting over our stories, memories, and art at a time when we aren’t able to enjoy each other’s physical presence. We hope that  by creating this archive of recipe and story, we can bring a sense of joy and community into your very own kitchens!

We are looking forward to creating this with y’all!

You can find instructions for participation in this project below.

SAMPLE RECIPE SUBMISSION

RECIPE TITLE: Mom’s Guacamole

RECIPE STORY

Guacamole was always Mom’s thing. Whenever she’d bring home the grocery bag full of avocados we would squeal in delight because it was guac night! It was what she would bring to parties and what she would prepare when we had friends over, it was the ultimate people pleaser and soul nourisher. Everyone who tries Mom’s guacamole asks for the recipe and she is always happy to spread the love. You may be wondering what made her guac so sensational? The secret ingredient: lots and LOTS of garlic 🙂

Feeds 5

INGREDIENTS

3 large, ripe avocados

2 medium sized tomatoes, diced

1/2 cup of cilantro finely chopped

1 hot pepper, sliced (serranos, jalapenos, or lemon drops will do!)

1/2 red onion, diced

2 limes juiced

2 cloves of garlic, finely minced

salt and pepper to taste

PREPARATION

Scoop avocado from skin and mash in a bowl to desired consistency (we love ours chunky!) Add in all ingredients and mash and mix until everything is incorporated.

Storing tip: save a pit from the avocado and place it in the guacamole storage container with the remaining guac. The pit prevents the browning of the guacamole!
