What made you want to volunteer at Finca Tres Robles?

I first heard about Finca Tres Robles through a good friend of mine that I went to college with (shoutout to Nikalina)! I began purchasing delicious produce from Finca and loved driving out to do so. I enjoyed interacting with all of the other workers and volunteers every time I was there–everyone was so great at making it feel like home! My dream of a better future involves increasing access to healthier foods for the betterment of peoples’ health and well-being. I believe we can work together towards a happier and healthier society if people are provided the correct tools–one of those being quality food to fuel your body. I saw that Finca Tres Robles was working to achieve this same dream, and that’s when I knew this was the perfect place for me to be. 🙂

What would you say is the most fulfilling aspect?

I can only say good things about being a volunteer here. I love getting to chat with everyone who comes through–everyone is so down-to-earth and kind-hearted. It’s really fun to learn about other peoples’ stories because so many individuals come from different walks of life. I also feel beyond blessed to be working alongside some of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. It’s truly such a special experience to be a part of!

What does community mean to you?

Community, to me, means coming together to experience opportunities and face challenges head on as one. In any instance, I think knowing that people are there to support you is a comforting feeling and leads to more satisfaction in the long run. Compassion, hard-work, and a whole lot of love are at the root of community. I believe in supporting others to live their most fulfilling life. To do this, teamwork is such an important facet to facilitate. If we can all work together towards lifting everyone up, especially during times of hardship, I think that provides the best demonstration of a tight-knit community.

What do you like to do when you’re not at the farm?

I love being outside in the sunshine! I take my dog out walking to the park, and usually try to get a workout in, too! I also love to paint, draw–anything that is an artistic outlet. I like to study, too (weird, I know, hahaha). I also love spending time hanging out with family and friends!

What are your favorite Finca vegetables/fruits?

Such a good, but difficult, question! I loved Misome when it was available back in the fall/winter last year! I also love the rainbow chard, collards, kale, green onion (I put green onion on e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g), brentwood lettuce, and so many others! Also, the oranges might be my absolute favorite fruit Finca has. Some of the best oranges I’ve ever tasted. 🙂 Super excited to try even more goodies as they begin to sprout!
