NOTAS DEL CAMPO

Wednesday, October 28

Greetings from fellow Farmer Rocio,

I am the mastermind behind the CSA boxes!

Thank you all for being a part of our CSA program. I hope you all have been enjoying the goodies in your boxes!

Every week is like a puzzle when it comes to planning what is going in your box. A lot of it has to do with what is in our fields. At times, we run into pickles where some of our seedlings had a hard time germinating, therefore, leading us having to re-seeding but also putting us a little bit behind schedule. Or maybe, sometimes our crops may get a pathogen, or go to seed a bit earlier than expected – altering their taste. That’s when we have to look at other crops that we have available to supplement for another.

After a burning summer, our fall season picks up with lots of bed preparation for new plantings. A lot of what we grow in our fields is based on what’s in season, so radishes, turnips and mustards in your box are what grow well during the fall (despite the weather). We have nice asian cabbages growing in the ground for you guys that still need to head up until we can harvest them. They’ll be great for making kimchi! And be on the lookout for collard greens, kale, dill and cilantro soon!!  OH! And big shout out to our Texas farmer friends who also help supplement some of the items in CSA.

I will end with a  friendly reminder to pick up your boxes on designated pick up days and if you can’t… you have until then next store day to pick it up! If your box is not picked up, we will gladly donate it!

Thanks again for your commitment to Finca Tres Robles, we appreciate each and every one of you!

Warm hugs,

Farmer Rocio
