NOTES FROM THE FIELDS

Hello, Finca Family!

With the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we wanted to send a quick update about a few minor changes we’re making to ensure the health and safety of all our cherished CSA members. Our production operations will not be affected, and we will continue to function at peak capacity. We are taking extra precautions to ensure the farm can continue to serve our community.

The primary goal is to do what we can to limit the spread of the virus to the most vulnerable within our community who face the highest risk of serious complications from the virus. We are taking the recommendations of health professionals very seriously and as such have made several improvements to our food safety procedures and our distribution practices.

Updates:

Distribution – To limit the number of people interacting with the CSA shares, we will now distribute the CSA Bags to our members instead of our traditional self-serve style. Please go to the farmer running our Farm Stand who will sign you off our list and hand you your CSA share.

Late Pickup – We will not be dropping the leftover shares at Bohemeos in the short-term. We will keep the leftover CSA shares at our farm and add an additional lock on the drive-in gate nearest the bathrooms to allow you to pick up after hours. Those that need can reach out to us for the gate code.

CSA Bags – Starting next week (March 25th), we will be shifting to compostable bags for all of our CSA shares. Please return your Finca Bags this week and next week if possible.

We appreciate your understanding and ask that you graciously follow the recommendations of health professionals to take reasonable steps to prevent the spread of the virus to protect the most vulnerable in our community.

Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns you may have in the meantime.

Regards,

The Finca Tres Robles Farm Team

WHAT’S IN THE SHARE

  • Bunching Onions: These onions’ fresh flavor is hard to beat.

  • Carrots: Rainbow carrots – all colors taste similarly.

  • Cilantro: This variety is incredibly fragrant and has larger leaves.

  • Fennel: Delicious bulb with a fragrant set of fragrant greens perfect to add in a pesto!

  • Celery: Tango Celery is crisp and flavorful.

  • Chard: Unbelievably vibrant chard – cook up the stems first, then the leaves.

  • Lettuce: This romaine is quite delicate and crisp.

  • Parsley: A delicious flat-leaf parsley.

  • Spinach: This is kookaburra spinach. Extremely mild compared to our other greens. Rabbits love it.

  • Dill: Dill makes a merry tzatziki. Alternatively, chop it fine and put it in a salad with other herbs.
