WHAT IS YOUR NAME AND POSITION?
“My name is Madison Narges and I am the Administrative Coordinator for Small Places.”
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO JOIN THE FINCA TRES ROBLES TEAM?
“The notion that larger community change starts with smaller place based movements felt significant to me. Living in Houston, feeling connected to agriculture isn’t always easy or accessible. Farming is something that I grew up around, but seeing it done with intention, care with respect for people and land is refreshing and it’s work that I am honored to be a part of.”
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF YOUR WORK?
“My time at Small Places has been spent primarily working on grants in support of our Capital Campaign. From my experience the most challenging aspect related to this is learning how to effectively convey the importance of Finca Tres Robles as a community investment that funders can understand and find their own personal value in. ”
WHAT DOES COMMUNITY MEAN TO YOU?
“Community to me means a safe inclusive space where the relationships between people are reciprocal and people feel comfortable asking for and giving support. It is a place where talents and passions are celebrated and there is a level of trust, respect and accountability. Community looks like learning from and uplifting one another until we are all in positions to prosper.”
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT WORKING?
“In my time away from work I enjoy cooking, swimming, reading, hiking, camping and, most of all, spending time with my daughter, Reign, and dog, Milo.”
