It is important that we support black-owned businesses.

Examination of wealth in the U.S. finds staggering racial disparities. The origins of today’s racial wealth gap is traced back to Jim Crow-era practices of job discrimination and redlining which segregated African Americans from higher paying jobs, home ownership, and virtually every other avenue of wealth building.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

By supporting black owned businesses, we help in not only closing this gap, but in strengthening our local communities and economies and fostering visibility and representation.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We have compiled a list on our blog of black-owned and led farm/gardening/food businesses and accounts here in Houston.
