Finca Tres Robles offers a Farming Apprenticeship in which you can learn how to be a part of a well-run vegetable farm in Houston’s subtropical climate. You’ll gain the ability and confidence to grow high quality, healthy foods for yourself and your community using proven, appropriate technologies and methods. 

Start Date: February, 2025
Duration: 6 month trial period with possibility of 12 month extension

Hands-On Farm Experience

This is a truly unique opportunity to learn the farming trade and serves as a pathway for young Houstonians to gain expertise necesary to manage a production farm.

This is a full time, entry level position for anyone seriously interested in pursuing a career in farming.  We will prioritize  applications from people who live in or come from our neighborhood (zip codes 77011, 77012, 77023, & 77003), and encourage people who don’t see themselves represented or celebrated in dominant narratives about food and farming to apply.

The Apprenticeship goes beyond just daily work on the farm. We work hard to ensure the Program contains a diverse range of experiences and opportunities that provide a broad understanding of what goes into starting, operating, and maintaining a well-run farm.

In addition to farming, you can expect to help with community outreach events, educational programs, farm tours, and other activities to support our non-profit mission.

Participants will also spend a month working on another local farm in an Externship position while connecting with other local farmers to support future work opportunities in agriculture in the Houston area.
