Finca Tres Robles, located in Houston’s historic Second Ward, is the first privately operated farm within the 610 loop. We believe in the importance of making organically grown fruits and vegetables accessible to individuals and families on the East Side and have spent the last three and half years transforming a long-time vacant lot into a productive and inclusive space that serves our immediate community. We believe that that small places matter and with commitment, purpose, and passion their impacts reach far beyond their borders.
The menu will be developed and prepared by Chef Jonathan Rhodes, a native Houstonian and young up-and-coming chef in the Houston scene. Out of raw curiosity, he began teaching himself to cook at the age of twelve (12). Jonathan has always had a passion for giving back to his community and at the age of 16, and with an idea from his mother, he began selling frito pies to the residents within the neighborhood. After serving in the military and graduating from college, Rhodes continued his culinary development in a few high profile restaurants including Oxheart, Gramercy Tavern, and The Inn at Dos Brisas. In January 2016, he launched a pop-up series called “Jensen Chronicles” which focused on his upbringing in inner city Houston. After some success and with the partnership of his wife, they decided to dedicate themselves to a new project, a brick & mortar Restaurant Indigo. Since then Chef Rhodes has continued his culinary career by working on farms and cooking at educational institutions and is currently attending the University of Houston to obtain a bachelors degree in history.
Town in City Brewing Co. is a craft beer microbrewery located in the historic Houston Heights and will be providing their local craft beer for our dinner. As the oldest in the Heights, Town in City brings their neighborhood-style brewery to local residents to enjoy through their indoor taproom and outdoor patio and beer garden. We’re excited they’ll be participating in the dinner and grateful they’re willing to support initiatives like ours in Houston. (Wine will also be available).
We hope to see all of you out at the farm to celebrate with us. Space is limited, so get your tickets today. Ticket sales will benefit the mission and work of Finca Tres Robles.
