At Small Places, our mission has always been to nourish our community—not just through sustainable farming but by making high-quality, local food accessible to everyone. One program that exemplifies this commitment is our Neighborhood Produce Program (NPP).
Since its inception in March 2020, at the onset of the pandemic, the NPP has been a lifeline for many households. This program provides subsidized distribution of fresh produce, eggs, pastured meats, rice, and beans to families who need it most. Even when the farm temporarily closed in 2021, we remained steadfast in our commitment, ensuring that these households continued receiving these essential items.
Why NPP Matters
For many of us, driving across town to a grocery store like H-E-B or Whole Foods is a simple errand. But for others, it’s a significant challenge. The NPP bridges this gap, ensuring that fresh, local food is delivered directly to households that would otherwise struggle to access it.
While we aren’t currently growing the food ourselves, we partner with incredible local producers like Common Market Texas and Mike Marchand from Whitehurst Heritage Farm to source the highest-quality products for our neighbors.
A Program Built on Community Support
This work wouldn’t be possible without the support of our donors and partners. Your contributions allow us to sustain this program and continue delivering nutritious, local food to families in need.
The impact is profound. Every delivery brings heartfelt gratitude and appreciation from our neighbors. If only we could bring you along to experience the joy and relief these deliveries provide!
Stories to Share
In the coming weeks, we’re excited to share stories from the recipients of the Neighborhood Produce Program. These stories will highlight the real-life impact of your support and the difference it makes for families in our community.
Thank you for standing with us and making the Neighborhood Produce Program possible. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected community—one delivery at a time.
