Getting exposure for the farm with aligned funding partners. I keep saying that to know the farm is to love it, and I fully believe that. Our future sponsors just need to know we are here.
¿QUÉ TE HIZO QUERER UNIRTE AL EQUIPO DE FINCA TRES ROBLES?
The food inequity in this area is frustrating to me. I started volunteering soon after the farm’s groundbreaking where I learned that the population in the zip codes served by Finca Tres Robles tend to live 15 years less than the rest of Harris county, in part due to lack of healthy food options in the area. Growing up in 77012, I wanted to help alleviate this gap, so I got involved with Salsa de Mayo. That led to getting to know the team and some other people in the community which are lovely and supportive in such a refreshing way. Approximately a year later there was an opening that called to me with the opportunity to further along the farm’s mission. That is what I want to do, and to get to do it with a supportive team, eager to help one another…it’s the cherry on top.
¿QUÉ SIGNIFICA COMUNIDAD PARA USTED?
Ideally it’s a safe and happy haven…it’s where you can have fun, grow, learn and help your fellow neighbor. Basically it can be your chosen family on a bigger scale.
¿QUÉ TE GUSTA HACER CUANDO NO ESTÁS TRABAJANDO?
There are too many things, but I will share three:
1. My favorite thing to do is travel. I tend to go where there is water most of the time, because I was a mermaid in a past life.
2. Spending time with family and friends is a must. I’m incredibly blessed with the people that surround me.
3. Eating yummy food would be the third thing I like to do. The range is vast and wide from all cuisines to veggies and desserts. Give me all the ice cream!
