NOTES FROM THE FIELD<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Welcome and welcome back to the Finca Tres Robles CSA!!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s been 50.5 months since we packed a CSA. Can you believe that!?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In some ways that\u2019s so hard to believe and in others our time to transition has felt even longer than that.\u00a0 I\u2019m relieved and excited to have this program back up and running again and grateful to have your support.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

As it’s been so long since we did this, we will have to get some wrinkles out of the system.\u00a0 As we test out some new ideas for our CSA, we don’t expect it to go perfectly and we do expect to give you all a positive experience.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Our hope with this initial 12-week CSA run is to hear your feedback and any concerns to help us improve the program as we continue to get our feet under ourselves to grow it over time<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

If you run into an issue or have a question let us know. We\u2019ll do our best to resolve it and I hope you\u2019ll give us some grace as we incorporate this program back into our week to week farming muscle.<\/span><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget!!!<\/i><\/b> – If you miss picking up your box on a Wed or a Sat, you can pick it up on the following Sat or Wed. But we’ll give it away by the following week.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m so excited and appreciative to have your support again helping us bring the freshest produce to your kitchen while also supporting our farm team, Texas farming community, and food access programs at the same time.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

WHAT WE\u2019RE UP TO THIS WEEK<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

– We\u2019re planting \u2026 <\/span>peppers, basils, beets.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

– We\u2019re greenhouse seeding \u2026 <\/span>eggplant, okra, hot peppers, hibiscus flower.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

– We\u2019re direct sowing \u2026 <\/span>cucumbers and green beans.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

– We\u2019re also \u2026 repairing major leaks in our irrigation system and prepping for CSA!<\/span><\/p>\n

This is our first harvest of the season. It should be nice and tender. It can be eaten raw and we love it lightly cooked.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Carrots (Finca)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Lettuce (head) (Finca)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

This is a salanova variety which are tight heads with tender leaves. This is a great lettuce season so I hope you enjoy it before it starts getting too hot!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n

Celery\/Broccoli<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

These come from our farmer friends in the Valley.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n

Collard Greens (Finca)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

These slowed down during the freeze. They are just starting to come back a bit stronger. We harvest them at a smaller size which makes them less tough and bitter.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n

Yellow Onion<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

From the Brenham area!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Sweet Potatoes<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

These are organic and come from our Wharton farming friends at Gundermann Acres<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
